New! - Cobham's fate to be decided - 30 Apr'08
A news update - the full match report from the final game of the season win over Camberley Town is now available.
Also, Cobham's fate will be decided at the Combined Counties League meeting on 14th May.
Cobham end season on a high - 27 Apr'08
Amazing. In a season in which high hopes gave way to desperate struggle, Cobham's teams managed to end their seasons on a high.
On Saturday, both the first and reserve teams completed their league seasons with wins - the former travelling to 3rd placed Camberley Town and coming away with a creditable 1-0 win, although this made no difference to their end of season league position. Meanwhile, the reserves made the trip to East Grinstead Town and won 2-1 to further cement their mid-table league position. More details of these games will hopefully be available soon.
In 'relegation-watch' there was good news as Staines Lammas knocked Westfield out of the top 3 in Division 1 thus making it less likely that the Hammers will be relegated.....
Even better news came from the Cobham Under-15 team who have won their league with four games to spare - congratulations! They are also in the Under-15 cup final on the 11th May at AFC Wimbledon's ground when they face Worcester Park - good luck lads!
Cobham confirmed in bottom two - 23 Apr'08
As of 22nd April Cobham's fate has been sealed - a bottom two finish with relegation dependant on who finishes where in the league below. As it stands Dorking will be first to go and as long as only one from Hartley Wintney or Westfield in the top 3, then Cobham will retain their CCL Premier League status (basically it all depends on ground grading). So everybody, start supporting Staines Lammas! Cobham's destiny was formed following a 1-2 home defeat to Sandhurst Town on Saturday (see the match report for more details) before a spirited 2-2 draw at Chessington & Hook proved too little too late.
Meanwhile the Cobham reserve team notched up two defeats at both Tonbridge Angels (0-5) and Horley Town (0-3) with a number of youth team players appearing in both. Their final game of the season is at East Grinstead Town on 26th April.
The first team now have nothing but pride to play for as they complete their league campaign at Camberley Town on Saturday 26th April.
Cobham slip into the relegation zone - 13 Apr'08
With just 3 games to go, Cobham slipped into the relegation places after losing to Bedfont Green 1-2 at Anvil Lane on Saturday. After going behind, they fought back with Dean Pitcher getting the equaliser only for the visitors to score again through a free-kick to take all the points. A full match report has now been added.
Better news from the reserves as they travelled to Merstham and won 5-1. They next visit Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday 15th April.
To get out of their perilous position Cobham will have to get something out of their next game as Sandhurst Town arrive on 19th April.
