Raynes Park Vale crashed out of the FA Vase to Combined Counties league rivals Cobham in a game best forgotten by all concerned at Vale.

One could have guessed it wouldn't be their day when Cobham took only a minute to get their first effort on goal when a blistering shot was superbly saved by the Vale 'keeper.

Two minutes later and Vale had a chance of their own as the Cobham keeper came rushing out of goal to challenge the Raynes Park player who managed to go around him and knock the ball into the box where it was blasted over the bar.

The Vale luck ran out after nine minutes when a defensive mix-up by Vale allowed Cobham's Michael Carpenter to nip in and head past an out of position GK and put the visitors a goal up.

In all honesty the rest of the match was a non-event for Raynes Park as most of the players seemed either tired or distracted by events off the field and therefore unable to put pressure on a side who were quite frankly ordinary to say the least.

Matters weren't helped when a Vale player got sent off in the first half for picking the ball up and kicking it at a Cobham player who was on the ground.

Despite being down to ten men Vale still puffed away in the hope of forcing something but it wasn't to be as Cobham broke away twice in the last three minutes to wrap the win up and take the prize money.
