Ash United 3 v 2 Cobham, League, December 15th 2007
Report edited from Ash United website - http://www.ashunited.co.uk
Ash started brightly and initially opened up Cobham quite easily. On 10 minutes Ash got the lead when a player ran at the Cobham defence, held off several tackles before hitting a shot that went in off the underside off the crossbar and just over the goalline. Ash were still having the better of the play although misses allowed Cobham to get back into the game and they created an opening which just went wide off the target. The Ash goalie had to pull off a couple good saves in the Ash goal to deny Cobham as they began to get on top of the game. It was the turn of Ash to be grateful for the misses although on the break they again caused Cobham problems but at half time Ash lead by just the one goal.
The second half started very well for Ash as on 48 minutes good inter-play finally saw them score, headed home, to send Ash two up. Then on 53 minutes even better for Ash when some good pressure around and in the Cobham penalty area saw the Ash player run at the Cobham defence and at a tight angle lifted the ball over the keeper into the net. Three up and in control Ash continued to create chances but just couldnt put them away. Then after couple changes Cobham got a goal back when good work down the right saw the ball crossed over to Andrew Dalhouse who hit a well struck shot into the net. Then two minutes later Cobham were back in the game when from a well delivered freekick Matt Barrett headed the ball home. Ash now came under a little more pressure but they slowly but surely regain some control to hold on and claimed the three points.
